IDK. You know what that means, right?

IDK. These are some of the most intimidating and sometimes embarrassing words to say. I don't know.
It invokes memories of grade school when you didn’t know the answer or when you had not been listening. Or that year when you had a terrible ear infection and honestly couldn’t even hear the question. It is a painful thing to say. Watching Nickelodeon’s show from the 1980s, “You Can’t Do That On Television”, had a profound effect on some now-adults ever muttering, “I don’t know”. If you recall, saying that led to getting slimed.
“I don’t know” can be some of the most powerful words we can ever utter. If the question was meaningful, but our answer is “I don’t know”, we should take the next steps to find out the answer.
Exploring your personal finances and locking down your economic health and happiness is incredibly important. Money does not come with instructions and learning via your mistakes can have negative consequences for years. It’s imperative that you ask questions, get information, and make the best possible decisions. And if someone asks you “Do you have a financial plan? Is it working for you?”, do not be afraid to say “IDK”. Then you take the next steps to find out. It is far better to light the candle than curse the darkness.
